FRIDAY 6TH JULY, 2018
THEME: WHAT IS IN YOUR HAND?
TEXT: EXODUS 4: 1-9
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 139:14 “I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are Your works, my soul knows it very well.”
The hand we have is one important tool God has given every mankind to profit through various activities. However, many do not understand that these hands were created with power and authority. When we drive on the road, we meet traffic officers who direct us by the wave of the hand. They can flag us down, or direct us on the path to go, without uttering a word. That is how powerful the hand is. In fact, every part of our body is an instrument in God’s hand.
Moses was given a commission and during his complaints (11 in all), God asked him the question “What is in your hand?” and he said “a staff”. Moses saw that what he called an ordinary staff was more than what it was. This was the same staff he used to lead the flock of Jethro, but it was no longer what it used to be then. With the same staff, he smote Egypt with the plagues and troubled the Egyptians. With the same staff he parted the Red Sea. With the same staff he brought out water from the Rock. In 2Kings 4, the widow of the prophet went to meet Elisha about a problem and the question Elisha asked was “What do you have in your house?”
If God has promised to bless the works of your hands, the question then is “What is in your hand?” There is no one without a mighty provision, but the fact is that we often do not value what the Lord has given to us. For us it is not the physical hand, but it may be an endowment, gift, talent, opportunity, opening, insight, etc, which can become a mighty tool for making impact in our generation. A tennis racket in the hands of Serena Williams produces millions of dollars at a time. A crusade for Billy Graham could bring thousands of converts to Christ and a harp in the hands of David can attract God’s presence. Discover what you have and you can become a star in your generation. You are made with a distinction and there is no copy of you anywhere.
HYMN: EMHB 589 – GO LABOUR ON, SPEND AND BE SPENT…
PRAYER: Lord, You have made me in a wonderful and fearful way. Let Your glory and power reign in my life that I may display Your glory in my generation in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
