THEME: HE DIVINE GUIDE
TEXT: NUMBERS 9:15-23
MEMORY VERSE: NUMBERS 9:18 “At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at His command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp.”
As a child, this writer used to enjoy hide – and – seek games while strutting about blind-folded. Recently, I observed a blind man trying to walk through a crowded street unaided. It dawned upon me how being blind could leave one helpless in finding one’s way. As humans, we are blind to events that may happen the next minute or even in the future. We also could be blind spiritually as we navigate our way through life’s many challenges.
As I observed the blind man, someone offered to help him cross the busy highway. You can imagine the blind man’s relief at such assistance. He was able to cross the road aided, without danger, and at a shorter time.
If you relate this to the nation of Israel as they journeyed through the wilderness or to our lives. You will realise we need all the help we can get in finding our way through the winding and dangerous paths of life. The question to ask is: “Who do you turn to for assistance when in a blind situation or when you are at a crossroads? How do you take decisions when faced with a multiple – choice situation? Do you rely on God or on spiritualists? In Judges 6:11-23, Gideon wanted to be sure he was meant to lead the nation. He asked for a sign from God.
Over the ages, people have relied on divine guidance when faced with moments of indecision. We face this every day, so we need the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will lead us and remind us of all things if we allow Him to do so by having His spirit in us(Jn. 16:12-14). Today, as you ask, believe that God is always willing and ready to lead you in all circumstances.
HYMN: EMHB 611 – LEAD US, HEAVENLY FATHER, LEAD US
PRAYER: Lord, I am blind but you are Omnipresent. Take my hand, precious Lord, and lead in your kindness me through the blind alleys of life.
