Theme: He Makes The Difference
Passage: Ephesians. 2:1-10
From Death to Life
2 In the past you were spiritually dead because of your disobedience and sins. 2 At that time you followed the world’s evil way; you obeyed the ruler of the spiritual powers in space, the spirit who now controls the people who disobey God. 3 Actually all of us were like them and lived according to our natural desires, doing whatever suited the wishes of our own bodies and minds. In our natural condition we, like everyone else, were destined to suffer God’s anger.
4 But God’s mercy is so abundant, and his love for us is so great, 5 that while we were spiritually dead in our disobedience he brought us to life with Christ. It is by God’s grace that you have been saved. 6 In our union with Christ Jesus he raised us up with him to rule with him in the heavenly world. 7 He did this to demonstrate for all time to come the extraordinary greatness of his grace in the love he showed us in Christ Jesus. 8-9 For it is by God’s grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God’s gift, so that no one can boast about it. 10 God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do.
Every product is branded to bear the mark of the producer and by it the product is traceable to the producer. For instance, there are many brands of juice in the market but no matter how close they might taste or look, 5 Alive cannot be Chivita; Chivita cannot be Happy Hour nor Happy Hour be any other brand.
We were all like sheep without shepherd, wallowing in sin and heading for destruction. The language then was: lying, fighting, gossiping. drunkenness, backbiting, unforgiveness, murder, fornication, adultery, idolatry, stealing and other forms of uncleanliness that usually appeal to the flesh. In-fact, Ephesians 2:1 says, “And you, he made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins. Such was the condition of man until Jesus came and rebranded us, removing from us the filthy cloth to become a brand new fellow.”
We must, however, know that it is only by grace through the faith we have in Jesus, not because we have served or worked so well to deserve it. Verse 8&9 states “For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of work, lest anyone should boast.”
People of God, we should know that we have been branded with the mark of Jesus Christ that he shed on Calvary to make us different from the world product. Let us therefore guide and guard ourselves. Therefore, if you have not been branded with this special mark yet you still have the grace to join the group. Any further delay, might be too late.
MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians. 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”.
