DAILY REFLECTION: HALLMARK OF THE UNPROFITABLE – TUESDAY 22ND OCTOBER, 2019

Tuesday 22nd October, 2019

Theme: Hallmark of The Unprofitable

Passage: Romans 3:10-18

10 As the Scriptures say:
“There is no one who is righteous,
11 no one who is wise
or who worships God.
12 All have turned away from God;
they have all gone wrong;
no one does what is right, not even one.
13 Their words are full of deadly deceit;
wicked lies roll off their tongues,
and dangerous threats, like snake’s poison, from their lips;
14 their speech is filled with bitter curses.
15 They are quick to hurt and kill;
16 they leave ruin and destruction wherever they go.
17 They have not known the path of peace,
18 nor have they learned reverence for God.”

MESSAGE:
In our text today, Apostle Paul, referring to Psalm 14:1-3 says “There is no one righteous” meaning “No one is innocent”. Every person is valuable in God’s eyes because God created us in His image and He loves us. But no one is righteous; we have fallen into sin. But God, through Jesus His Son, has redeemed us and offered to forgive us if we return to Him in faith.

Apostle Paul uses these Old Testament references to show that humanity in general, in its present sinful condition, is unacceptable before God. Have you ever thought to yourself, “Well, I’m not too bad; I’m a pretty good person”? Look sincerely at every verse in today’s text, Romans. 3:10-18 and see if any of them applies to you. Have you ever lied? Have you ever hurt someone’s feelings by your words or tone of voice? Are you bitter toward anyone? Do you become angry with those who strongly disagree with you? If yes, your life is not profiting God.

The only way to be declared not guilty is by acknowledging our sins, confessing and forsaking them and trusting Jesus to take them away. Your trusting means putting your confidence in Christ to forgive your sins, to make you right with God, and to empower you to live the way He lived. God’s solution is available to all of us regardless of our background or past behaviour.

Jesus Christ has purchased our freedom and the price was His life. So, come to Him in faith today with a repentant heart and you will not be cast away. God Still loves you!
