Theme: Not Counting Life
Passage: Acts 20:17 – 24
Life is about taking risks without which no achievement nor ground-breaking success can be recorded. Risk is to have strong determination to bring about positive consequences. This was what made Apostle Paul to be eager to be in Jerusalem though the elders of the Church at Ephesus knew that the departure of Paul from them to Jerusalem would bring about persecution.
Paul himself was not sure of what awaited him; the Holy Spirit only revealed to some that he would face persecution there. Paul was told by the revelation of God of the suffering he would face from the Jews in Jerusalem. Despite this, Paul did not consider his life as more important than declaring the truth to both the Jews and the Gentiles.
Not counting one’s life is to carry the cross of Christ in all circumstances. In this age where majority express religion instead of Christ we need not consider our life as being more important at the expense of the souls that are perishing. We have to witness for Jesus with conviction showing evidence of His goodness in our lives, families, businesses, studies and journeys. Beloved, we have to stand and be counted by God, so that the blood of sinners will not be required of us on the last day.
MEMORY VERSE: Acts 20: 24 “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of grace of God.”
