Theme: Harnessing your Fear
Passage: Psalm 56
In the midst of the threat and malice from enemies, there is a tendency to be afraid. But learn from what the psalmist chose to do in verse 4, “In God I will praise his word, In God I will put my trust, I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.”
The secret is that he understands the promises of God in His word as noted in Psalm 46:10. 2Tim.1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind;” Isaiah 41:10 Psalm 91:1-16, 1 John 4:18, Ps 27:1. In the midst of fear of the enemy, David resolves to handle his fears by making God’s promises the matter and focus of his praises.
The second strategy is to trust him in God, that is having a strong faith in Christ our Savior, The good news is this, even when we don’t have power to overcome fear, we have a God who does. You can never fail when you trust God sincerely using his words as a marker to live by.
Whatever life throws at you, know that Christ has provided a way of escape, 1 Corinth. 10:13. His love has shown that He knows and cares for us. Therefore stand in faith (Trust) and courage that God is on your side. Know today that God will not leave you for the enemy to devour. In the midst of the storms of life, sickness, job loss, marital difficulty, affliction or challenges of life, don’t be afraid. God is able and mighty to deliver, just be confident in him and in his rich promises.
MEMORY VERSE: PSALM 54:4. “Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.”
HYMN: MHB 510- AWAY, MY needless fears.
PRAYER: With your right hand of power, Oh Lord, uphold me in all situations that I find myself.
