Theme: Transforming Love
Passage: Mark 12:28-34
MEMORY VERSE: Mark 12:33. “And to love God with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
HYMN: MHB 442 – HAPPY the heart where graces reign.
Our Lord Jesus Christ who is Love himself quoted from Deut 6:4-5 affirming love as the important thing in life because love is the fulfilling of the law, Rom. 13:8-10. God wants us to understand that a loving relationship with Him enables us to have a loving relationship with others. If we love God, we will experience His love within us and will express that love to others. Love is the greatest need of humans and it is also the greatest obligation of humans.
Transforming love is that kind of love you have towards God from your heart, soul and mind which in turn is expressed to neighbours. Note that a neighbour here means anyone we come across in life and help, Luke 10:25-37. If you truly love God and others, you will be actively engaged in evangelism, quick to forgive, help those in need, and bear others’ burdens. For this purpose Christ Jesus came into the world.
Dear Child of God, in order to be in the kingdom it is not enough to agree with Jesus teachings but we must subjectively practise all his commands. Examine the level of your love for God and others and make amendments where necessary.
PRAYER: Help me Lord to demonstrate my love for you and not only saying it with my mouth in Jesus’ name. Amen.
