Theme: A Willing Heart
Passage: I Chronicles 29:1-9
Willingness is an act of doing or the desire to do something without compulsion, nor being compelled. In our passage we saw a man, after God’s own heart, a leader by example. From the scripture, the house of God was to be built, though not by him, David, yet over 70 per cent of the materials needed to build the temple were donated by him. He didn’t relent in his giving; he also went as far as giving away his treasury filled with gold and silver. With these, the people were motivated to donate willingly to the building of the temple.
Beloved, do we know that our actions, inactions and reactions towards issues can motivate or discourage the people around us? The people of Israel saw other options than to follow suit. It is sad that most times we unknowingly discourage others from serving God, especially with the way we respond to God’s work. Our stand or views at meetings can make others to be rebellious against a worthy cause. This should not be so. Therefore, I encourage us today to learn from King David, who served God with what he had with a willing heart.
MEMORY VERSE: I Chron. 29:9, “Then the people rejoiced for they had given willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the Lord; David the king also rejoiced greatly.”
