Theme: Prepare For The Future
Passage: Joshua 22:21-34
He who does not plan has only succeeded in planning to fail. Many times people, even Christians, do not prepare for the future. We should not only be after the present but must think, plan and prepare for the future. For if we don’t, posterity will never forgive us. More so, today will soon be yesterday while tomorrow (future) will soon be today (present). Therefore, we should learn from the past, make the change we can today and prepare for a better tomorrow.
There should be something that should always make the future generations remember us as their fathers in faith as Christians. In preparing for the future, we should consider spiritual, physical, economic, health and other aspects of life so as to hand over to the next generation substantial principles of life.
Can you ask yourself, “How am I preparing for the future?” This future includes eternal life, marriage, education, career, etc. Because no one knows the future, we must always prepare for it. When there is prosperity, we must not squander all but remember to save for the future Nigeria, the uncertain Nigeria.
MEMORY VERSE: Joshua 22:26-27, ‘Therefore we said, ‘let us now build an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice, but to be a witness between us and you, and between the generations after us, that we do perform the service of the Lord in his presence with our burnt offerings and sacrifices and peace offerings; lest your children say to our children in times to come, “you have no portion in the Lord” .’
HYMN: MHB – 255 WAKE, awake, for night is flying!
PRAYER: Almighty God, give me the consciousness to plan for the future so that I can be relevant to my generation and generations to come in Jesus’ name. Amen.
