PASSAGE: COLOSSIANS 3:1-10

MESSAGE
If God by His divine instruction asked you to put some things to death, these things are very dangerous to your life. In this case, God is asking us to put to death some immaterial things, that may spell doom for our physical and spiritual existence. Since we have been raised to life with Christ, we should always look up to Christ, who is seated in heaven, far above principalities and powers. Our focus should not be on the mundane, lustful and ephemeral things of the world that may drag us into the mud of sin. These are the desires that used to be in us while we were alien to the sovereignty of Christ.
Now that we are in Christ Jesus, we should be ruthless, decisive and unsparing in dealing with the issue of sexual immorality, indecency (in dressing and manners), lust (of the flesh, eyes and heart), evil passions and greed (for greed is a form of idolatry) Col 3:5. Put these things to death or you are at risk of being submerged.
If you notice any of these vices/sins manifesting openly or secretly in your life, cry to God for help. You really need God’s help. The Apostle Paul that is instructing us, by the Spirit of God, in today’s text had gone through a similar experience. He cried unto God in Romans 7:15-24 and God really helped him, to the extent he could say in Romans 8:1 that there is no condemnation for those who live in Jesus. You can also be helped by the Lord but you must first bring the little foxes ‘ that destroy the vine’ to the Lord for divine execution. (Song of Solomon 2:15).
Struggle no more; only submit to God for the mortification of the cancerous parts of your life.
PRAYER: I look up to You, Lord; grant me victory over all manner of sins, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
