FRIDAY 24TH JANUARY, 2020
THEME: REMAIN IN CHRIST
PASSAGE: JOHN 15:1-9.
MEMORY VERSE: John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”
HYMN: MHB- 475:
I need thee every hour,
It is not only dangerous, but also foolish to be self–reliant. Everyone in this whole wide world needs one another to survive. Even America cannot fully stand on its own without the support of some other countries, either economically, trade wise or other areas. The scripture confirms this truth that depending on Christ as our Solid Rock frees us from worry and enables us to live victorious lives.
A renowned preacher makes the point above clearer. She says “Sometime we may think that we do not need God’s help with things we have successfully done over and over again…People who think they are self-sufficient and can take care of themselves are foolish and eventually, they realise this and people learn lessons from their foolishness.”
The preacher further reiterates that an independent attitude is part of the body stage of Christianity. A mature Christian knows that he can do nothing of any real value outside Jesus Christ. Of course, we can do things, but that does not mean they will be done right or that we will enjoy them or that they will produce any lasting fruit.
Therefore, wisdom demands a complete reliance on Jesus Christ alone as our fortress and source of our spiritual nutrient and strength. This means we must constantly allow Him to take control of our lives; be the Chief occupant of our heart and making His presence the atmosphere of our dwelling place. He can prune the excess luggage (ungodliness) around us, thereby eliminating struggles, turning our impossibilities to possibilities and making difficult things easy and peaceful for us.
Are you ready for His help? Then do all you can to remain in Christ, the Chief Security Officer of your life.
PRAYER: God, help me to abide in You forever in Jesus’ name. Amen.
