THURSDAY 13TH FEBRUARY, 2020
THEME: THE EFFICACY OF GOD’S WORD
PASSAGE: HEBREW 4:1-13
HYMN: MHB 303 –O WORD of God incarnate
MEMORY VERSE: Hebrew 4:12 “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Efficacy is the ability to produce the desired effect under ideal testing conditions. In today’s text, Apostle Paul wrote to his fellow Jews to allow God’s Word to produce the desired effect in their lives. He made it clear that the Word of God is powerful enough to enter into the most secret place of the heart of man and cause great transformation. However, it is when we allow the Word to penetrate or enter that it can give the desired effect. Don’t forget that God had made man a free moral agent, who has the ability to choose what he wants. As powerful as the Word of God is, if you do not give it the right place, it will not produce the desired results.
The Bible says, “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:11-12). The Scripture records that Jesus Christ went to His hometown, Bethlehem so that He could bless them as He did in other towns and cities, but they neither received Him nor believe in Him and His Word. He, therefore, could do no miracle there nor heal anyone. They forfeited the benefits of God’s Word.
Brethren, God’s Word remains living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Allow the Word of God to grow in you and bring the expected blessing including the Crown of righteousness on the Judgment Day.
PRAYER: Lord, I release my heart and life to be illuminated and transformed by Your Word in Jesus’ name.
