THEME: CONDITIONS FOR CONTINUITY
PASSAGE: PSALM 132:1-12
HYMN: MHB 400 “TAKE my life and let it be…..”
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 130:12 “If your sons will keep My covenant and My testimony which I shall teach them, their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”
This Psalm expresses David’s concern for the Ark of the Covenant at Kiriath Jearim (Ephratah) and had to be taken to Jerusalem for better habitation. He intercedes for the nation (Israel), the priests, saints and the children.
It is becoming alarming in our generation the rate at which children are denying the God of their fathers. Many children are strangers to the faith of their fathers, not to even talk of the covenant of the God of their fathers. Most worrisome is the fact that some Ministers’ children are not exempted from this evil of our generation.
No wonder David prayed in Ps 144:11&12 for the Lord to deliver him from the hand of the foreigners by whose acts our sons and daughters are polluted and defiled. Our world is infiltrated by the spirit of disobedience, which is part of the signs of the end time. But for us to continue in the Lord and the purpose of God by covenant relationship with our families, we must remain obedient to the terms of the covenant and strict obedience to the Word of God.
We must not allow ourselves to be overtaken by the influence of the world we are today, ruled by technology and liberal gospel. Let morality start from our homes again, the value of faith and discipline to be entrenched in our children, and parents to lead by examples of faith. Ministers of the gospel and leaders of faith, watch, because your children are at high risk of immorality. If you want your name and that of your family to be retained in the book of life till eternity, keep the covenant of the Lord and obey His Words.
PRAYER: Rescue me from the hands of foreigners, whose mouth speak lying words, and whose right hands are right hand of falsehood, that my sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That my daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style. Amen.
