MESSAGE

After the killing of all the prophets of Queen baal, Jezebel’s anger against Elijah increased and she promised to deal with the prophet. This made Elijah to run for his life. We should always be able to discern every situation with the Holy Spirit inspiration in every situation we are.

Another lesson to learn from the story is the claim by Elijah that he was the only prophet left. God, who is all-knowing, told him that there were 7,000 “whose knees have not bowed for Baal.” One of the deceits of the enemy in our generation is to make people feel that you are the only odd one out here. Most times the devil arranges it so much that in your immediate environment you find it difficult to see someone that shares your views.

May be in your office, everybody is corrupt and you choose to do the right thing and somebody tells you: “Are you different from us?” Or you are in the examination hall and cheating is rampant, maybe the invigilator does not care, but you don’t like to cheat and the devil tells you: “See yourself you are the only one!” Don’t budge. Or have you come to a point like Elijah to think that you are the only one upholding the covenant? No, it is not true. An Elisha may be waiting to do it even better than you.

Don’t submit to Satan’s deceit. God has His children scattered all over. If you think you are the only one doing it right or has the gift that others do not have, somebody that you think is not as spiritual as you, is at alert to take your place. Keep holding on, and the Lord will help you out.

PRAYER: For the joy that is set before me, give me grace, Gracious God, not to look back.
