THEME: Express Faith through Love
PASSAGE: Galatians 5:1-15
HYMN: MHB 338- “RESCUE the perishing, care for the dying……”
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Thessalonians 1:3: “remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father.”
I read a book some years back titled STOP WITNESSING…START LOVING by Paul Borthwick. The title at a glance might create thoughts in a critical mind. But the author really explains the importance of the life that Jesus lived among the people as a role model for us to win the nations. The friendship, the work, the emotions and even the meals they shared together made a strong impact on the heart of the people.
In the same way, a lot of people in our generation preached the gospel or witnessed as an act of religion or an act to perform so that they can get reward in heaven. Our expression of faith is supposed to be defined in the act of love. We should preach the gospel because we love the souls that are perishing and we have passion for them not to be lost.
The identity of believers is to love. Christ said when you love one another; by this they shall know you are My disciples. Our faith is a faith that is practised and lived by expression and no other expression but love. The faith was born by love expressed in Christ being given for our redemption. In the same way, we are to replicate Him if we truly carry His identity.
In your neighborhood let your faith be practical, both to Christians and non-Christians. And, like Apostle James says, show me your faith and I will show my works.
PRAYER: Lord, let me be like You, live like You and love like You. Teach me to be practical in my faith in Jesus’ name. Amen.
