THEME: Set Free By Faith In Christ
PASSAGE: Galatians 3:15-25
HYMN: MHB 238 – MY faith looks up to Thee.
MEMORY VERSE: Galatians 3:25 “But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.” (NKJV).
Paul in his letter to the Galatians read this morning states explicitly that Christ is the very centre and essence of our faith. His incarnation, exemplary living, suffering, death and resurrection have fully paid the price of our redemption. We were once alienated from God by our sinful nature (Romans 3:23), but the redemptive work of Christ reconciled us back to God. No work that we do or sacrifices made by us would suffice to pay for our freedom from Satan, sin and self.
Our self-righteousness and observance of law cannot be a perfect payment for justification, because the law is a ‘Warder’ and a prisoner itself and it cannot set another prisoner free. Mankind has been a prisoner of law until Christ came. By His coming, He, through His adoption, brings us into sonship with Himself so that we are no more ‘slaves’ but sons and daughters of God, who can cry “Abba Father.”
All of us that had been slaves and prisoners to sin are now set free by Christ Jesus. As many as would accept and follow Him would henceforth live in perfect freedom; freedom from the law of sin and death, and transformed into a new life.
The best decision you can make therefore is to follow Christ, have faith in Him and daily receive instructions from Him (through constant reading and meditation of His Word). You are then sure of freedom from sin and the onslaught of Satan.
Your journey henceforth would be great, glorious, pleasant and divinely preserved, if only you can have faith in Christ Jesus, and in His finished work of Salvation on the cross. You are blessed in Jesus name, Amen.
PRAYER: O Lord, I confess my faith in Jesus Christ and commit my journey the remaining part of this year into your hand. My life, family and all are secured in Jesus’ name. Amen.Like
