FRIDAY 10TH JULY, 2020
THEME: Seek For Divine Wisdom
PASSAGE: Proverbs 4:1-27
HYMN: MHB 460-TALK with us, Lord, Thyself reveal
MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
The Book of Proverbs is a divine container of wisdom, a collection of instructions that one would need to go through every day. The writer, King Solomon, wrote all these because he gave himself to seek for wisdom and helped to document them for our reference and use. In verse 5 of our Bible passage today, we are instructed to get wisdom and get understanding and the same is repeated in verse 7.
The need for wisdom is not negotiable. A woman needs the wisdom to build her home. A youth needs the wisdom to live in this world of sin and perversion. Our rulers and Church administrators need the wisdom to carry out the will of God. This wisdom is contained in the Holy Scriptures for us to consult. In fact, the Holy Bible is the first to be reckoned with when seeking for divine wisdom.
Lack of divine wisdom makes people amass wealth without the understanding of what the Bible says about it. Lack of divine wisdom pushes people to sin when there is always a punishment for it. Lack of divine wisdom takes a high toll upon people who cannot seek for it. It was said of King Uzziah in 2Chro. 25:5 that, as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper. David in his own days would go out and sit before the Lord in His sanctuary.
When we study God’s Word, we receive light and insight that will help us to righteously live our lives. Beloved, whoever you are and whatever you seek to do, let the wisdom of the Lord direct you and you can never miss the way.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, endow me with Your wisdom that I may use it for the rest of my life’s journeys in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
