DAILY REFLECTION: THE PAINS OF THE GODLY – FRIDAY 28TH AUGUST, 2020

FRIDAY 28TH AUGUST, 2020
THEME: The Pains Of The Godly
PASSAGE: 2 Timothy 3:10–17
HYMN: MHB 822 – ONWARD Christian soldiers,
MEMORY VERSE: Acts 14:22 “Strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith and that we must through much hardship, enter the Kingdom of God.”
MESSAGE
2Timothy 3:12 says that everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. Paul here talked categorically about the pains he endured for choosing to follow the dictates of the Word of God. The same goes for us today. To put this in plain terms, living a Christ-centered life is completely opposite the lifestyles of the wicked world.
The world will ask the believer to ignore the requirements of grace. When you are humble, whatever your achievements maybe, the world does not acknowledge you or give your achievement its due recognition.
When you do not compromise your calling as the world expects, you are separated and laughed to scorn. The world despises the godly. Even in the church, some brethren do the same. Those who separate themselves to truly follow the Word of God is mocked. They visit the godly with rejection and denial of rights.
Stephen was stoned to death; John the Baptist was beheaded; Apostle John was banished to the island of Patmos; Peter and Paul, tradition says, suffered martyrdom. They all inherited the kingdom of God for their steadfastness and perseverance in Christ.
Whatever pain that your confession of Christ brings to you, be steadfast in Christ. Take courage in the Word of God that assures that “He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Persevere and look forward to the promise of Him who called and cares for you.
PRAYER: Almighty Father, strengthen me in the fierce battle of faith that is now raging, and make me victorious in Jesus’ name. Amen
