THEME: Hold On To Your Faith
PASSAGE: Jude 1:1-16
HYMN: MHB: 238 – MY faith looks up to Thee
MEMORY VERSE: Jude 1:3. “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints”.
Christians obtain salvation through the grace given to the whole world by God through Jesus Christ. The grace, however, is connected by faith in the resurrected Lord, Jesus (Ephesians 2:8). This indicates that believers’ confession and exercise of faith in Jesus’ death for our sins, and His resurrection, assuring us of life after death, bound us together with Him. As such, we cannot afford to lose the greatest asset anyone can possess which equally makes us be in fellowship with our God, access His will through His Word and lay hold on our heritage as heirs of His promises.
Indeed, the multi-dimensional benefits, traversing the earthly to the heavenly realms informed Jude, brother of Jesus, to exhort Christians “to earnestly contend for the faith.” Efforts to twist the scripture to suit the fake preachers’ ulterior motives, heretical teachings to spread and thereby pervert the spread of the gospel’s truth are much more present with us today.
For example, the propagation of the doctrine that once a person is saved forever, even when the ‘saved’ indulges in immoral living, is far from the Bible truth that denounces manifestation of the works of the flesh in a saint’s life (Gal. 5:19-21).
Therefore, holding on to our faith in Christ and His truth as enunciated in the scriptures are fundamental to abide in Him. We must not also forget the fact that false teachers, and their likes, are among the signs of the last days (2timothy 3:1-9) that must surely manifest. However, to hold on till the end, it is expedient you re-affirm your faith as you daily carry your Cross.
That is, pray, study the Bible, fellowship with brethren and stand by your resolve to serve, live in and die for Christ. Remember, only those who hold on to the end shall be saved!
PRAYER: My God and Father, empower me to fight the good fight of faith till the end of my life in Jesus’ name.
