SUNDAY 18TH OCTOBER, 2020
THEME: Efficacy of the Blood of Jesus
PASSAGE: Exodus 12:1-14
HYMN: MHB 201: THERE is a fountain filled with blood….
MEMORY VERSE: Exodus 12:15- The LORD said, “For seven days you must not eat any bread made with yeast – eat only unleavened bread. On the first day you are to get rid of all the yeast in your houses, for if anyone during those seven days eats bread made with yeast, he shall no longer be considered one of my people.”
On the night before the Hebrew people left Egyptian slavery to go into the Promised Land, God told them, in each household, to take a lamb without blemish, kill it, roast it and use the blood to make marks on their doorposts and lintel. So that He would pass them over, but destroy the firstborn of the Egyptians.
Blood, in the context of our study today, symbolizes life, cleansing and purification—the settling of a matter.
From Genesis to Revelation, the words “the blood” are kept before our eyes—a reminder of its importance and significance to God and to us. The sacrifices of Abel, Noah and Isaac, and the Passover lamb, and the giving of the Law all came to pass, but “not without blood” (Hebrews 9:7).
God is love. And the greatest expression of His love toward us was the blood of Jesus, which was shed on the cross at Calvary to redeem mankind. Jesus’ sacrifice covered every area of man’s existence. He bore spiritual torment for our sins, mental distress for our worry, care, sorrow and fear, as well as physical pain for our sickness and disease. It is love, through the blood, that has created a barrier between believers in Christ and the kingdom of darkness.
The benefits of Christ’s blood include the following:
Believers have redemption through the blood of Jesus (Eph 1:7).
The blood also sets us free from the curse of the law so that THE BLESSING of Abraham might come upon us in Christ (Galatians 3:13).
We receive healing through the blood of Jesus. “By His stripes, we are healed.” –(Isaiah 53:5)
They overcome through the blood and the word of their testimonies. (Revelation 12:11).
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, forgive me for not applying the benefits of Your blood to my life. Help me stand in faith and apply these benefits to every situation of my life. Amen.
