DAILY REFLECTION: TURN YOUR FACE TO GOD 2 – WEDNESDAY 4TH NOVEMBER, 2020

WEDNESDAY 4TH NOVEMBER, 2020
THEME: Turn Your Face To God 2
PASSAGE: Jeremiah 2:20-30
HYMN: MHB: 353-JUST as I am, without one plea
MEMORY VERSE: Jeremiah 2:27a … Saying to a tree, ‘You are my father,’ And to a stone, ‘You gave birth to me.’ For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face.
MESSAGE
Whenever God was angry with the people of Israel because of their sinful and disobedient lives, He would remind them of the good things He had done on their behalf and relate them with their present sinful situation.
In today’s passage Prophet Jeremiah cried to the Israelites as God instructed him to do in verse 2, to remind them of their terrible situation; how they stood before God; the abomination they were into and the mind of God towards them. Some Christians are full of excuses and self- justification like the Israelites in verse 23. This has killed our consciousness of sin. This guilt cannot be washed away unless we turn our faces to God.
In the name of freedom, there has been increased sexual immorality of all kinds. The so-called “sexual liberation” has increased instability in family life and breakdown of law and order resulting in untold misery and financial hardship. How can we explain the insecurity of lives and property in the nation today? What about bloodletting, kidnapping, armed robberies, cultism, money-making rituals, banditry, etc.? The nation is doomed unless we turn our faces to God.
2 Chronicles 7:14. Says “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Let us ask God for pardon now before judgment comes. Individuals and societies which have forsaken God will suffer diminishing fruitfulness; there will be a lack of productivity, declining education, economy, increasing politics with bitterness, a disorder in society, etc. People of God, let us return to God through faith in Christ Jesus to be forgiven and restored.
PRAYER: Lord, I expunge the power of sin in my life and I break loose from every bondage of sin in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
