THURSDAY 6TH MAY, 2021
THEME: LIVE TO PLEASE GOD
PASSAGE: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:1-10
MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.”
HYMN: MHB 644(D.S.M.) – THOU Judge of quick and dead.
MESSAGE
Apostle Paul in the passage we read today likened our body to an earthly house, a tabernacle, a tent, a nice piece of architecture in which our souls dwell. As a house consists of various parts fitted together so is the body of man. This shows the power and wisdom of God, the Architect.
Our body is referred to as an ‘earthly’ house because we are from the earth and will quickly return to it. We know that if the earthly tent or body is destroyed, we have a building an immortal body from God, an eternal house in heaven not built by human hands. This immortal body cannot be until the earthly body dies. While we are mortal we find life’s troubles burdensome. Paul shows how the fear of the Lord, the love of Christ, and the authority of God compelled him to prioritize his role as Christ’s ambassador. Let us pray that the Lord will give us the grace to respond in like manner.
Children of God are not to fret, be troubled, groan, or be burdened because Jesus has prepared mansions for us in heaven (John 14:1-3). Are you confident that you will be part of the rapture or be with Jesus in His eternal reign?
How we live our lives on earth will determine where we spend our eternity. The expectation of Jesus Christ is that we believe in Him, adhere strictly to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and disseminate the Gospel, intimating people of the imminence of the Kingdom of God.
Every work shall be revealed with fire at the judgment seat of God (1 Cor. 3:13-15), And everybody shall be judged according to what he had done (Rev. 20:13-15).
PRAYER: O Lord, help us to live all the days of our lives to please You and reign with Thee in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
