MESSAGE
This is the summary of the doctrine of the gospel concerning the great work of redemption by Christ. Before the universe has its beginning, Christ already existed, thus by definition, He is eternal (Micah 5:2; John 1:1-2; John 8:58; I John 1:1; Revelation 22:13). Christ holds all things together. He sustains the universe, maintains the power and balance necessary to live’s existence and continuity (Hebrews 1:3).
The Greek word for “image” is “eikon” from which the English word “icon” derives its meaning. Jesus Christ is the very image; the exact likeness of God and is the very form of God. He has been so from eternity. By describing Jesus as, “All in all”, Paul emphasizes that Jesus is both the representation and manifestation of God. Thus, He is fully God in every way. He is the firstborn of all creation. This means that He has pre-eminence and possesses the right of inheritance over everything in existence. He had existed before all creation and He is over and above all thrones, dominions, rulers, principalities, powers, or authority. All things were created through Him and for Him. Halleluyah!
Jesus came in order to reveal the Father in His own person and when you see Him, you see His Father who is in Heaven (John 14:10, Hebrews 1:3). The love of God is revealed in Christ. He is the visible representative of the invisible God. God manifested Himself by means of the Son in the gospel. In creation, He manifested Himself through the Son. The visible universe is a manifestation of God through the Son.
PRAYER: Jesus Christ, You are All–in–All and the All we need. Thank You for bringing us into the knowledge and understanding of God. Also, help us to know You more as our wellbeing depends on You. Amen.
