WEDNESDAY 7TH JULY, 2021
THEME: REJOICE IN HIS HOPE
PASSAGE: ROMANS 5:1-5
MEMORY VERSE: Romans 5:2 “Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
HYMN: MHB 528(220.127.116.11.D) – IN heavenly love abiding.
Everyone needs hope in situations that stretch our faith. When we have faith in God for something, and that request seems delayed, it somehow affects our faith. The Bible says that hope deferred makes the heart sick (Pro. 13:12). At this point, we need to add hope to our faith in order to increase its elasticity to the extent that even at breaking point, it is still standing!
Having Christ in our lives makes us not only increase our faith but also add hope to it. When we see the glory of heaven ahead of us, it gives us hope. One glorious hope we have is the resurrection of our Lord Jesus from death. Paul said that “If Christ has not risen, then your faith is futile, you are still in your sins.” This hope gives us a higher level of joy in times of affliction.
In Jeremiah 3:1-20, the prophet recounts his various troubles and challenges. Looking at the words he used, we can see that life was very harsh to him. However, verse 21 opens with the source of hope to him. It was the mercy of the Lord to him that makes him rejoice in hope and remove the impact of the sorrow.
To rejoice in hope means that you know that the Lord is still with you. Understand that the Lord does not forsake His Children at their point of need and know that Jesus has broken every yoke on the cross of Calvary. You must also try as much as possible to wait on His faithfulness. Jeremiah 3:26 makes us to know that “It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” Let the joy of the Lord be your strength, Brother/Sister. Rejoice in His ever-sure promises.
PRAYER: Beloved Jesus, increase my faith to have access into Your grace that I may rejoice in the hope of Your glory. Amen.
