THEME: JUSTIFIED BY FAITH
PASSAGE: ROMANS 3:19-30
MEMORY VERSE: Romans 3:26 “He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time; so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.”
HYMN: MHB 68 (220.127.116.11.18.104.22.168.) – NONE is like Jeshurun’s God.
Romans 3:23 says it very clearly “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. No person is free from sin, no one is exempted. We all are sinners through Adam. As we have fallen into sin, we are confronted with the consequences of sin. Rom 6:23 says “The wages of sin is death.”
Because we all have sinned and are due to die, we all seek mercy from God to spare our lives. No matter how we try to do good works we cannot please God who is rightly very angry at our deviations from His laws. We fall short (Rom 3:23). Isaiah 64:6 reminds us that all our righteousness is like filthy rags before God. We all seek to be justified when pleading our case before God’s judgment throne. But because we cannot fulfil all the laws we receive, there is no pardon.
However, God the Righteous Judge, in His compassion, made the SALVATION provision for us in Jesus Christ (John 3:16). John. 1:29 says ‘behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world’.
By this provision and the act of sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross of Calvary, we can now plead for mercy as we enjoy the GRACE of redemption. (Heb. 2:17, 4:14, 9; 25-28).
So, Rom. 8:1 declares “There is no more condemnation for all who trust (and have faith) in the atoning blood of Jesus”. We are now free from damnation; we become just (righteous) before God because of our faith in the redeeming blood of Jesus.
PRAYER: Dearly Beloved God, I thank you for Your gift of eternal life. Help me to continually acknowledge, it in Jesus’ name. Amen.
