FRIDAY 8TH OCTOBER, 2021
THEME: THE GREAT GUIDE
PASSAGE: JOHN 16:5-16
MEMORY VERSE: John 16:13 “Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all Truth: for He shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come.”
HYMN: MHB 615 (126.96.36.199.4.7.) – GUIDE me, O Thou great Jehovah.
In today’s world of technology, we have Google Map, an application in the mobile phone that aids users to access locations without much stress. The application automatically becomes the guide, knowing every location in the city provided the user knows the principle guiding its applications.
Life in God is a life made easy. God has never for once forsaken His own. The account of God’s relationship with man right from the Garden of Eden is that of a Father-children relationship, always providing means of comfort even when they failed Him.
As Jesus was getting to the end of His earthly mission, He knew that His absence would bring much setback for His disciples. As such, He never hesitated to assure them of a successor. He quickly resolved their fear in John 16:7 saying, “…I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for If I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but If I depart, I will send Him unto you”.
The Great Guide is the Comforter in the person of the Holy Spirit, and He is already with us as promised by our Lord Jesus Christ. So, as a child of God, you are a bona fide beneficiary of His goodwill. In your moment of pain and hopelessness, when you are lost not knowing what to do, seek His guidance and He will help you. He is always present with you. Don’t wait for a far-away helper because he might be too late in coming.
PRAYER: Come Holy Spirit, my guide. Guide me to all Truth so that I may, like Jesus do the will of the father and overcome the world of sin, in Jesus’ name. Amen
