PASSAGE: ACTS 12:1 –12
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 50:15 “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
HYMN: MHB 357 ( – JESUS, in whom the weary find.
Our text today is the fourth arrest of Peter as well as the fourth persecution of the Church. Why was James, the son of Zebedee, killed by Herod? Why was Peter delivered from death? Prayer is the key; use it effectively every time. Pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17).
Peter, under chains in prison, ought to be in a most terrible state, but he was found sleeping under chains. I see three factor that could necessitate his action;
He had tasted and testified to the power of God and has over time built his confidence on Him that God is able to deliver at all times. He had earlier told the elders and his persecutors in Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
He might have remembered the Words of Master Jesus in Matt 28:20 that “Surely I AM with you always to the very end of the age.”
We must notice that the moment the church got the news of Apostle Peter’s arrest they all went praying for Peter’s immediate release. And that really paved way because Heaven was moved by their prayers. Note that the church did not go into gossip as the case may be in most instances in our time.
What are your despicable and unwarranted conditions today? Receive this key now and unlock yourself. In shock, Peter had his chains broken and miraculously led out of prison among four squads of four soldiers. Psalm 126:1-2 State: “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was out mouth filled with laughter and our tongue with singing, then said they among the heathen ‘The Lord has done great things for them’.”
PRAYER: Every satanic chain, imprisonment, slavery, and bondage that still exercises authority over my life and destiny by the authority in the name of Jesus, be destroyed. I decree and declare my total freedom and that of my entire household, in Jesus’ name.
