FRIDAY 22ND OCTOBER, 2021
THEME: THE HOPE OF THE HOPELESS
PASSAGE: ROMANS 15:7 – 14
MEMORY VERSE: Romans 15:12 “And again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in Him will the Gentiles hope.”
HYMN: MHB 525 (126.96.36.199.188.8.131.52.) –THROUGH the love of God our Saviour.
There was a woman who was barren for 10 years. The mother in-law called her all sorts of names. In a quest to have a child, she visited prayer houses, consulted native doctors, took as many herbs as were recommended but all to no avail. One day, she visited her village and met her local church pastor. She explained her predicament to him, but the Evangelist told her to go to the altar and cry to God. She went to the altar and cried to God for seven days. At the end of the prayers, she travelled back to meet her husband and she conceived that same month. She later gave birth to twins. What a Wonderful God!
In the passage for today, Apostle Paul told the rejected Gentiles that there is no difference between the Jews and the Gentiles (Rom.10:12; Gal. 3:28). Salvation is for all because Jesus Christ died for all.
You might have been rejected and despised by people around you because of unemployment, sickness, insubordinate children, failure, problems in marriages, lack/ hardship and many others. You might have passed through terrible situations in life. Are you about giving up on life or commit suicide because of the unpalatable and unpleasant situations you are in right now?
May I announce to you that Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection opened the door to real hope for a meaningful, abundant and joyous life for everyone who calls on Him. Remember, “He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things” (Rom. 8:32). Rejoice and praise God for giving you hope of His Son just as the dry bones in the valley came to life (Ezekiel 37:1-10). So, every dead thing in your life will be restored, for your good and every lost item will be recovered (1Samuel 30:8). Jesus Christ is the only hope in every hopeless situation!
PRAYER: Thank You, Father and my God, for giving the world Your Son, Jesus Christ, to come and die for us and to set me free from my hopeless situation. Accept my thanks and Praises, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
