MESSAGE
Thanksgiving is an attitude of being grateful for the mercy of God received in all circumstances. Thanksgiving to God is not to be limited to favourable conditions, but in the seemingly unfavourable conditions.
In the passage read, the Word of God says that we should give thanks in everything. There are a lot of things that God is doing which we do not ask for, but out of His mercy, He knows that we need those things and effortlessly we received them. There are times that we see things from a negative perspective; that which we consider as negative, if we reflect deeply, we will see that there are good things which God purposes for us in them.
Today is “All Saints Day” in the calendar of the Church Universal. As we celebrate the exemplary lives of these heroes of faiths, who have laid down their swords at the feet of their Maker, let us remember that the Bible says that we should give thanks in all things. There is nothing that happens without the knowledge of God, and in everything He has a good purpose at the end because the thought He has toward us is peace and not evil (Jer. 29:11). Do not grieve as those without hope. God, the hope of the hopeless, is there for you.
Brothers and sisters, stop grumbling and complaining but give thanks in everything; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Giving thanks makes that healing permanent (Lk. 17: 19); fills the heart with joy (Ps 100: 1); removes anxiety from the heart and increases faith in God (Jn. 11: 41) and unites body, soul and spirit.
Give thanks to God, that gives you grace to be among the militant saints by the merit of death and resurrection of Christ. As you go out today, let your heart be full of thanks to God.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for the gift of life. Always give me a heart of gratitude in all situations of life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
