Daily Reflection: Call to Service – Wednesday 4th July, 2018

MEMORY VERSE: Exodus 3:10 “Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that
you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
Taking off from where we stopped yesterday about character, we see here that Moses had won the trust of Jethro, his father-in-law, and can now even lead out his flock. He led the flock to Horeb where God saw his faithfulness to Jethro and also decided to use him for His mission to deliver His people.

Moses had been found worthy both by man (Jethro) and God. Now God is ready to use him for great exploits that would give him a name under the heavens and a place with God Himself. Moses had not been in Egypt for many years but now he was to go back there on a serious assignment. Like we read about Gaius in the meditation of July 1, about his faithfulness in service, the service of Moses had measured up to standard and he is coming in for a higher assignment. He is being called to the service of God Almighty.

Here, Moses is to change the use of his shepherd staff to that of shepherding God’s own people from the land of Egypt to the Promised Land. What a great honour! What a glorious responsibility! The truth of the matter is that God is still calling many of us into His service, to come out from serving men to serving Him, the Almighty.

God converted the rod of Moses into the rod of authority to lead His people from the land of bondage to the land of promise. God can also convert your vocation, job, business and profession into that which will be used for His ministry. Your expertise in medicine, journalism, engineering, law, trade, carpentry, accounting and various other fields can be converted into the Master’s use. Today, God is calling you to service because He wants to glorify Himself in your life like He did to Moses, to bring people out of the bondage of Satan. Will you answer His call like Isaiah?

PRAYER: God Almighty, take me even now and use me for Your own glory. Employ all my professional prowess and ability for Your work here on earth, I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
