Daily Reflection: WHERE IS YOUR FAITH? – Friday 13th July, 2018

TEXT: LUKE 8:22-25
MEMORY VERSE: Luke 8:25 “And He said unto them, Where is your faith?
And they, being afraid, wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man
is this! for He commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey Him.”
One day, a little girl and her friend were with the father at night. Suddenly, there was power failure and everywhere went dark. This little girl, who was afraid of the dark, screamed and the father lit the candle. The little girl said to her friend “Why are you screaming when dad is here with us? Next time just relax and sit quietly and he will light a candle for you.”

Our text today is very similar. There was a storm on the sea and Jesus was asleep in the same boat. Here, the disciples saw the raging storm as a danger to them while the Lord of the universe was right there. Many people forget easily, like that same girl, that Father is there with them. They only focus on the storms and problems and put themselves in a terrified position.

We have a Father, Almighty Father, the King of kings and Lord of lords who controls the entire universe, including its contents. It was very wrong to have become afraid, knowing the ability of Christ, knowing what He can do in every situation. Fear is an insult to the Father when we should have demonstrated faith. When you have a prevailing issue in your family and you begin to run from pillar to post, where is your faith? When you have a sickness and the doctors tell you your life is going to be over soon and you start to fidget, where is your faith? When there is darkness over your life and confusion sets in and you feel like ending everything, where is your faith? The truth is that God is always with us in every situation –in sickness, want, enemy’s attack, etc. We only need to strengthen our faith and fear will give way.

PRAYER: Increase my faith in You, Lord. Let me have confidence in Your unfailing love, I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
