Daily Reflection: EXAMINE YOURSELF – Wednesday 1st August, 2018

MEMORY VERSE: 2 CORINTHIANS. 13:5 “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates (cast away)?”

He that thinks he stands should take heed lest he falls” writes Apostle Paul in 1Cor. 10:12. This warning is very necessary because the world is full of many temptations which may bring down any Christian no matter the level of his or her belief if care is not taken. We must therefore watch what we do, where we go, the friends we keep, our lifestyle, etc. Christians are in the world but should not be of the world. However, it is very sad that Christians are now neck-deep in the affairs and the ideas of the world. They find the things of the world very attractive and interesting to their taste.

The need to examine our Christian life daily is very crucial if we must inherit the Kingdom of heaven. Very many Christians and Pastors today have missed the way; They have strayed from the way of Christ, and this happens very subtly or little by little. Take Judas Iscariot for example, he was lured into the act of betraying the Lord by the mere fact that he loved money too much. He did not examine or question the desire of his heart but allowed it to grow. If he had subjected his thoughts and desires to the Holy Spirit, he would have realised such tendency and put it under control but he allowed it to grow without check.

The fact is, for us not to miss the rapture, we need to check our lives in the mirror of the Word of God daily. If we do not align with what the Lord says about us, then we need to make some adjustments. Beloved in Christ Jesus, examine yourself and consider your ways before it is too late.

PRAYER: Lord God, help me to daily examine my life so that I may not go astray. Let me NOT be a castaway in Jesus’ name. Amen.
