PASSAGE: COL. 1:9-12
9. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11. Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12. Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Apostle Paul was writing to the believers in Colosse, appreciating the good news of their faith in Christ and how they have always showed love to the brethren. He also revealed the hope of heavenly rewards awaiting them for all they have laboured. Nonetheless, he wanted them to have deeper knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding so that they might walk worthy of the Lord and live lives pleasing to all.

In Matt. 5:14, Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on the hill cannot be hidden.” People around us hope to see in us lives that are completely different from those of the world. They expect to see lives void of lies, fornication, anger, jealousy, adultery, stealing, idolatry, etc. When your life as a Christian does not receive approval from people around you, it repels people from you. But when your life is full of the knowledge of God’s Word in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, it draws people closer to you and promotes increase in God’s Kingdom. “I will follow you to Church,“ they will say.

You may not be able to live a life pleasing to all if you are shallow in the knowledge of God’s word. The deep knowledge of God’s Word is what can make you wise and be able to remain irreproachable. Today, people are looking for faithful people, who do what they say and maintain godly lives.

If you desire to live a pleasing life, study God’s Word, and apply it to your life and see how you become approved and pleasing to all. Nevertheless, pleasing God and gaining Divine approval is second to none.

1: BLEST are the humble souls that see
Their emptiness and poverty;
Treasures of grace to them are given,
And crowns of joy laid up in Heaven.

2: Blest are the men of broken heart,
Who mourn for sin with inward smart;
The blood of Christ divinely flows,
A healing balm for all their woes.

3: Blest are the souls that thirst for grace,
Hunger and long for righteousness;
They shall be well supplied, and fed
With living streams and living bread.

4: Blest are the pure, whose hearts are clean
From the defiling powers of sin;
With endless pleasure they shall see
The God of spotless purity.

5: Blest are the sufferers who partake
Of pain and shame for Jesus’ sake;
Their souls shall triumph in the Lord;
Glory and joy are their reward.

MEMORY VERSE: Colossians 1:10 “That you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

PRAYER: I pray Thee, Lord, help me to study and understand Your Word and be filled with
divine wisdom that promotes a pleasing life before all, for I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
