Theme: Sowing and Reaping

Passage: Galatians 6:7-10

The issue of sowing and reaping is a principle of life. It has much attachment to our life, death and destiny. That is why our daily life on earth places us on trial to know where we belong in eternity. The life we live determines what we would become in life.

Many have been raising rather serious questions about the happenings in our lives and destinies. Why is it that some are rich and others are poor or wretched? Why do some people die early and others at their old age? Why is it that some are being favoured in life and others are not? Why is it that some die natural deaths, while others die mysteriously? But the answer to these hypothetical questions remains that all these things have their causes and the foundations. Nothing is without a cause. Scripture says in verse 7 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked for everything one sows shall he reap.”

Today many people are busy sowing whatever thing or seed they want. Some sow to the flesh while others sow to the spirit. The question is: Since they are sowing different seeds, will they reap the same harvest? No way!

The law of sowing and reaping is established for ever. As one cannot harvest yam from a mango tree, or maize from millet, whatever you do that you will reap or harvest. One more thing we should take note of is that whatever you harvest is always more than what you sow. If you sow to the wind, you will reap a whirlwind. If you sow kindness you reap supernatural kindness. So, let us always avoid doing evil or sowing seeds of discord because you will reap more than you sow in the end. Sow to the spirit so that you will reap eternal life.

MEMORY VERSE: Gal. 6:8 “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”

HYMN: MHB – 573 O God, what offering shall I give.

PRAYER: Baptize me with the Spirit and grace to sow good seeds. Oh God, by the blood of Jesus Christ cancel every harvest of evil that I have sown ignorantly, forgive and cleanse me, in Jesus’ name Amen.
