DAILY REFLECTION: LIVE FOR GOD – SATURDAY 18TH JANUARY, 2020

SATURDAY 18TH JANUARY, 2020

THEME: LIVE FOR GOD

PASSAGE: 1PETER 4:1-5

HYMN: MHB 300–Breathe on me breath of God

MEMORY VERSE: Romans 14:7. “For none of us lives to himself alone, and none of us dies to himself alone”.

MESSAGE

To live for God is to live a perfect, holy, righteous, selfless and sinless life. It is a life that is Christ-like. The Bible says: “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matt.5:48) “Who has saved us and called us to a holy life…” (2Tim.1:9).

Naturally, precious things, be they solid minerals, knowledge or achievement, are not easily attained in an ordinary manner. You dig deep in the soil to get gold. A Professor must study and work hard before he/ she becomes a professor. Shinning ornaments like gold have to pass through fire before shining. No pain no gain. Therefore, what is true naturally is also true spiritually. When life is easy there is a danger of drifting into a state of mind that is not pleasing to God. God puts us through the test that it might draw us to Himself and give us a new direction and drive for life; such is the purpose of suffering (1Pet.4:1)

Peter has made it very clear that we have to be born again by the Word of God, and the child of God with the new nature will not live in sin. If you are living in sin today and you are comfortable in it, your self-acclaimed salvation must be questioned. A child of God with a new nature longs to please Christ in all things. God will not let a believer get away with sin since He is judging the world for sin. There is no middle stage; you are either a born-again Christian or a sinner. The minority does not matter to God. Only those who obey His laws and commands will enter into His rest. Will you be there?

PRAYER: Holy Father, cause me to live only for You and count me worthy of Your Kingdom at the
end of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
