MESSAGE

The evil spirit in our Bible passage today said its name was legion. A legion was the largest unit of the Roman Army consisting of 3,000-6,000 soldiers! The demon’s goal was to control the body they inhabit, but Jesus’ goal was to give people freedom from sin and any satanic control. The demons in the story knew they had no power over Jesus hence their request to be sent into the herd of pigs. Jesus granted their request, but ended their destructive work.

The man who was cured did not know what to do after being cured or how to repay Jesus, so he requested to follow the Lord. Jesus charged him to go home to his family and testify (witness) to what the Lord had done for him. The man went away and immediately started testifying how much Jesus had done for him in Decapolis which was a district of 10 cities east of River Jordan.

Some of us today are shy to testify to the goodness of the Lord in the presence of some people or the congregation. They feel shy to acknowledge God’s goodness in the open. Why? The Word of God says that when you pray in your closet, the Lord that hears you in your closet will answer you in the open.

When His mercies are glaring in your life for others to see, why must you feel shy to testify to His goodness openly? The charge before us this week-end is to go out and testify to all, what the Lord has done in our lives. The mere fact that you are alive to read and meditate on this scripture today is enough reason for you to testify to the goodness and mercy of the Lord. Go and testify.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank You for this wonderful day. I thank You that I am alive. Father, help me to always testify to others. Your goodness and wonderful works in my life and to bring them to Your Rest in Jesus’ name. Amen.
