THEME: Grow Up 1
PASSAGE: Hebrews 6:1–6
HYMN: MHB 931- AWAKE, my soul and with the sun
MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 6:1″Therefore, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith towards God.”
The anonymous writer of Hebrews here warns Christians not to go into apostasy. Rather, they should grow from being babies in Christ and become adults. They are no longer fed with milk but with solid food- the raw Word of God for correction. This advice, if embraced, will go a long way to guarantee greater encouragement to followers of Christ.
Christians must lay the word of God up in their hearts as the foundation of all their profession. They should rest and stay on them! It is of no value for Christians to keep on laying the same foundation, they ought to go on and build upon it. There should be a progression in our spiritual race. A state of stagnancy in our faith should not be allowed.
It is in taking a new step of faith that we become mature in our relationship with God. Enough of marking time in our Christian journey. Some churches were taught to come for weekly confession of sins. Some come out every time for the altar call. This is not the best. The will of God for you is to grow up and influence others positively with your spiritual maturity, not repeated confessions as someone who doesn’t know his position.
Receive grace to grow up in your Christian faith in Jesus name. Arise and shine for your light is come. And the glory of the Lord has DAILY risen upon you. Refuse to remain the way you were years back. Refuse to remain the way you were when you became converted. Remember that it is the will of God to give you His Kingdom for possession!
PRAYER: My Father, my God, help me to continually grow in Christ so as to be a friend of God like Father Abraham of old.
