THEME: Be Faithful To Christ
PASSAGE: Hebrews 3:1-6
HYMN: MHB 576- BE it my only wisdom here,
MEMORY VERSE: Hebrews 3:1-2 “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.”
Most people know what it means to be “a servant of the Lord,” but not all know how to be faithful. Faithfulness is one of the key aspects of the service of the Lord. The work of the Lord will prosper in our hands only if we serve the Lord with faithfulness. However, some of us want to satisfy ourselves, so we change our actions secretly to suit our own needs.
A faithful Christian loves his heavenly Father and strives to follow Christ in all ways, [John12:26]. He must be a complete servant, no matter what. He makes choices that Jesus Christ likes more than what suits himself. Acts of faithfulness involve sacrifice. A faithful servant is always humble [Mark 10:42-45] even unto death. It also requires meekness [Eph. 4:2-3]. To be meek does not imply weakness or foolishness, but balanced in tempers and passions as well as being patient in suffering. A faithful Christian will always be gentle, quiet and submissive, just because he wants to please the Lord. Also, a faithful Christian is always a good steward [1Pet. 4:10]. A faithful Christian will preach the Gospel in season and out of season [2 Tim. 4:2].
In the house of the Lord today, some people no longer serve in order to please the Lord but to get something out for themselves. Whenever there is a programme in the Church, we partake, not to contribute, but to get something out of it. Remember what happened to Gehazi, the servant of Elisha, and Judas Iscariot, the treasurer of the 12 disciples of Jesus but ended up betraying his Master!.
Our faithfulness to Christ in pursuing the kingdom of heaven and its righteousness is a defining factor to our prosperity in the Christian life. Get this right and all other things shall be added to you (Matt. 6:33).
PRAYER: Lord God, bring me into the reality of faithfully serving You, that my end may be the glorious one that You have prepared for all Your faithful servants in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
