THEME: Gratitude
PASSAGE: Psalm 40: 1-17
HYMN: MHB 12 – PRAISE, my soul, the king of Heaven
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 40:3 “He put a new song in my mouth, praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.”
Gratitude is showing appreciation to someone for what he/she has done. In the case of David in today’s Bible passage, he was showing gratitude to God for all his wonderful works. In the first part of the Psalm (vs1-10), David praised God for his past and present deliverance and in the second part (vs 11-17), he laments the troubles forced on him by his undisclosed sin.
In Luke 17: 11-19,10 lepers were healed but only one leper came back and appreciated Jesus Christ. The only one who came back was a Gentile and not a Jew. He gave glory to God despite being a non-Israelite.
As a Christian, do you show gratitude to God for all He has done for you? Are you grateful for what He is doing presently? Do you even give Him glory for what He is yet to give you?
Showing gratitude to God for what He does will always propel you to a great altitude in life.
Have you shown appreciation to Him this morning for giving you the grace to be alive this day and for seeing the month of September 2020? Have you thanked Him for the good and adorable children God has given you? What about your business, good health, answered prayers, food, shelter, etc? Did you thank Him for the past 244days of this year?
Have you shown Him gratitude for the safe journey, daily provision, protection, promotion and so many other good things you have enjoyed from Him? What about the ones you are enjoying presently? Develop a heart of gratitude and your gratitude to Him will propel you to a higher altitude. Teach your children to appreciate every good thing was done to them, even the payment of their school fees. Praise Him for that little He has done and He will do more.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, create in me a heart of gratitude for all Your cares for me and my family. Amen.
