THEME: Trust in the Lord 2
PASSAGE: Psalm 118:8-19
HYMN: MHB 517 – SIMPLY trusting every day.
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 40:4 “Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, and does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.”
The Psalmist here is evidently in victory celebrations after some troubles on every side were over and gives testimonies of God’s goodness to Him and the nation of Israel. He trusted in God.
In times of trouble or difficulty, some put their hope for survival in mortal men like themselves, business partners, well-to-do family members, their riches or even spiritualists. Unfortunately, these can only bring temporary relief if at all, but the true and permanent solution can only be from God. And all it takes is our unfeigned trust in the Lord no matter what comes our way.
The crises in our nation today, the economic meltdown, insecurity all around and the untold hardships many people face, is because we do not put our trust in the Almighty God.
The land of Judah faced a similar situation during the reign of King Jehoshaphat. The King led all the people including children to the presence of God and called on the Almighty Father to intervene in the affairs of his nation as He had been doing since the days of their Patriarchs in Egypt. Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated (2 Chron. 20: 1-28).
Beloved, the government can do little or nothing if the Lord does not help (Psalm 127:1). In families where there are chaotic situations and storms, invite the Lord. If we can invite Jesus to be the captain of our ship and trust Him, of course, He will surely bring peace and tranquillity to our homes. Trust Him in all areas and He will surely see you through.
PRAYER: O God, help me to put my trust in You in all areas and situations of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
