MEMORY VERSE: Daniel 3:28“Then Nebuchadnezzar said: Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.”
HYMN: MHB 402 ( and refrain)FAITH OF our fathers, living still.
The three Hebrew young men – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had faith in God. Their faith was very strong. They believed that God would neither forsake nor disappoint them. So they were not afraid when they were put in the burning furnace. Inside the fire, they kept praising God.
Nebuchadnezzar the King who said there was none like him surprisingly called the God of the Hebrew young men “the Highest God.” He called them the servants of the Highest God! At that moment, the king acknowledged God. He accepted the fact that there was a Higher Being with the young men, while they were inside the fire.
Daniel was an example of another youth who put his God above any other gods in the land and he refused to bow to any lesser gods. King Nebuchadnezzar declared what he saw as a work of God on behalf of the three men. He said God sent His angel, in reference to the fourth person in the fire, because of the faith displayed by the young men and which was acknowledged by the king.
The king thereafter made a public decree to uphold the God of the three Hebrew men. Furthermore, he decreed that nobody, nation, or language must say anything against this GOD since there is no other God that can deliver like Him. In addition, the king promoted the young men.
As Christians, we must have implicit faith in God and His power to deliver us from any situation that we find ourselves. This is how we know a true believer in Christ. Is your business nose-diving at the moment? Are you barren and people have written you off? Are you being victimized in your office for one reason or the other? Have faith in the Almighty God, who is able and abundantly able to do everything.
PRAYER: God, strengthen my faith in You and let me be a source of inspiration to the faith of others.
