THEME: THE ABSOLUTE REDEEMER
PASSAGE: JOHN 10:22-30
MEMORY VERSE: Romans 3:25 “God Presented Christ as a Sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of His blood to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate His righteousness because in His forbearance He had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished.”
HYMN: MHB 238(220.127.116.11.6.6.4)- MY faith looks up to Thee.
Jesus was walking through a row of pillars or colonnade in Solomon’s Temple at Jerusalem during the feast of dedication. The feast was in memory of the rededication of the temple in 164 BC by Judas Maccabeus after it was made unholy by Antiochus Epiphanes. Some Jews gathered around Him, demanding that He should tell them plainly if He was the Christ. To this, He responded, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness about Me.” Jesus affirmed that He is the Saviour; the One who meets the lawful demands for the redemption of man.
Jesus’ blood mitigated God’s wrath, thereby making it possible for Him to forgive sinners while maintaining His holiness. This Christ did by putting His own blood in the judgment seat, thereby making it a mercy-seat for us.
Beloved, are you still seeking a solution for redemption like the Jews? Seek no further solution. There is no more sacrifice. Jesus has paid for the forgiveness of our sins in full. He is the absolute Redeemer of your soul. “There is salvation in no one else except in Jesus.” Embrace Him today; He has already met the lawful demand that guarantees your freedom.
PRAYER: Gracious God, help me to always recognize the fact that You are the greatest Redeemer of mankind and to continually give myself unto Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
