MESSAGE
An Armour is a protective metal covering that was formerly worn in battles; it was a means of defence. As human beings, our life is full of warfare and we struggle daily with calamities and fiery darts from the enemy. Our religion is much more warfare, for we struggle with the opposition, the powers of darkness and with many other enemies who would keep us from God. The armour of God is our defence in the evil days, it is what makes us stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Therefore, for us to conquer these forces of darkness, God has given us different armours which are listed below:
a. Truth or sincerity is our girdle;
b. Righteousness must be our breastplate;
c. Our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
d. Faith must be our shield;
e. Salvation as our helmet;
f. The Word of God is to be our sword of the spirit;
g. Praying with all prayers and supplication in the spirit (Eph 6:18, 1Thess 5:17)
Spiritual strength and courage are very necessary for our spiritual warfare. We have to be strong in the Lord. Our natural courage is as perfect cowardice and our natural strength is as a perfect weakness, but all our sufficiency is of God. We Christians must make use of all the defensive weapons listed above and ensure that no part of the body is naked or exposed to the enemy.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help us to put on Your armour that we may stand the wiles of the enemy, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
