THEME: DON’T MISS YOUR GLORY
PASSAGE: JUDGES 4:1-10
MEMORY VERSE: Judges 4:9“So she said, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.”
HYMN: MHB 516 (6.6.9.D. and refrain) – WHEN we walk with the Lord.
The story of General Barak is an example of people who confess Christ with their mouth, but deny the power thereof. God instructed Barak through Prophetess Deborah, that he should take ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and Zebulun with him to fight against Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s Army at the River Kishon. God promised that He would deliver Sisera into Barak’s hand (Judges 4:6-7).
Despite the divine assurance, Barak was afraid and he insisted that Deborah must go with him to the battle else he won’t obey the instruction of God. Consequently, Deborah told him that a woman would take the glory of the battle instead of him.
Since whoever killed the warlord is mostly referred to as the champion, as exemplified in the case of David and Goliath, Jael, the wife of Heber took the glory because she killed Sisera (Judges 4:21).
Whenever God issues instructions or commands, He does not need our inputs, opinions, suggestions, ideas or technical know-how, but strict and absolute obedience from us. Some have lost their victories, blessings, promotions, successes, fulfillments, and breakthroughs, because they failed to trust in God or do as He commanded. When we obey God as instructed, the joy and blessings in obedience and trusting in God will be our portion.
Do not look at the magnitude, height, largeness, or enormity of whatever task placed before you by God, because nothing restrains Him from saving by many or few (1 Samuel 14:6). When God sends you on an assignment, He will support, empower and strengthen you to succeed. How you will carry out the instructions of God should not be your problem, but have the assurance that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).
PRAYER: Lord, I rebuke every spirit of doubt in my life and claim my divine glory, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
