THEME: NO COMPROMISE
PASSAGE: ESTHER 3:1-6
MEMORY VERSE: Esther 3:2 “And all the king’s servants who were at the king’s gate bowed down and did obeisance to Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai did not bow down and do obeisance.”
HYMN: MHB 504 (220.127.116.11.8.8.) – LEAVE God to order all your ways.
Mordecai, a Jew, was a slave in Shushan. He believed that only God should be reverenced and bowed to. So when all the king’s servants were bowing for Haman, who had been promoted to the post of Grand Vizier, as he passed by the kings’ gate, Mordecai, who believed in the Almighty God, refused to compromise his faith. That triggered the anger of Haman against Mordecai and the Jews. He plotted to kill the Jews in the province.
The question is: Should Mordecai obey God or man? He obeyed God because Jews only bow to God Almighty and none else. When you do not compromise your faith for the sake of God, He will fight for you. Daniel refused to compromise. Shedrack, Meshack and Abednego refused to compromise. And God defended them all.
Mind you, every effort of Haman to deal with the Jews proved abortive because he was fighting against people who were doing the will of God. When you stand with God, God will stand with you. Child of God, remember that God protects and blesses those who refuse to compromise their faith and belief with the tradition of men (Isaiah 31:1-3).
God does not ignore people who put their trust in Him. In this present world, learn how not to compromise sin and the world. Haman failed because Mordecai did the will of God. Likewise, when you do His will He promotes you before your enemies as God did to David in Psalm 23:5. Don’t join the multitude to disobey God irrespective of the situation and where you are.
Refuse to compromise your faith; live for Jesus Christ alone. As God stood with those who refused to compromise, so shall He stand with you in your hour of need. From today do what is right in the sight of God.
PRAYER: My God, don’t allow me to compromise my faith, in whatever situation I may be, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
