WEDNESDAY 17TH NOVEMBER, 2021
THEME: SIN IS A REPROACH
PASSAGE: JOSHUA 7:6-13
MEMORY VERSE: Proverb 14: 34 “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
HYMN: MHB 342 (C.M.)–COME let us to the Lord, our God.
MESSAGE
The previous chapters before Joshua 7 explains how God rescued the Israelites from many battles. But in the passage for today, Ai, a small town, chased Israelites’ solders and killed many of them. Achan’s sin created a chasm between the Israelites and God. Sin in your life is capable of blocking the face of God from you. When you begin to feel a strange dilemma and problems in your spiritual life, do these three things:
– Humbly trace your path back to God after repentance, (Joshua 7:6-8, Psalm 51).
– Remind God of His promise and covenant (Joshua7:7).
– Engage in spiritual ‘digging deep’ until you find the cause of the problem, Joshua (7:10-20).
Sin is the only weapon Satan uses against the elects of God at this end-time. A country that harbours sin cannot grow. Such country experiences stagnancy in all sectors; diseases and famine will not move away from such a country. Our leaders in this nation, Nigeria, need to turn back to God.
Nigeria was at a time the giant of Africa, but where are we today? Our sins have set us back from moving with God. This same sin finished Sodom and Gomorrah. They were destroyed because of their level of immorality (Gen. 18:20-29). Sin does a great damage to you and your heart. It quenches the fire of the Holy Spirit in your life (1Thess 5:19). It robs us of our peace and hinders our relationship with God. It robs us of our joy (1 John 1:4).
No wonder Jesus says,”You are My friend if you do My will.” The will of God cannot be done through the flesh. It is when you consecrate your body and heart, and you cease to do the will of the flesh, which is sinful, that you will begin to live a new life in Christ Jesus.
PRAYER: I receive forgiveness of all my sins from God’s throne of mercy and every reproach that sin has created in my life is hereby removed, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
